My family and I had to recently go somewhere early in the morning. Because it was early, we hit some rush hour traffic and things moved slowly. As we sat for a moment in the traffic, we saw a fire burning up ahead, and through the smoke you could see the lights of the fire brigade helping to put it out.
As we got close to the scene we realized that the blaze was coming from a bad accident scene. It involved a truck and a motorbike, and the truck was on fire.
Even though it was not a nice scene to see, one thing amazed me. The truck was burning right next to a traffic light. It had burned away the whole of the casing around the lights, but the red, orange and green lights were still visible even through the dense smoke.
Follow His Directions
A fire can be a symbol of the power and anointing of the Lord. But it can also symbolize attack from the enemy to try and destroy. This was certainly the case with the scene that we came across here. But in spite of the chaos, that working traffic light really stood out to me and I couldn’t get it out of my mind.
Satan may want to attack and cause destruction and problems to come into your life. He may try and block your spiritual vision and cause you to feel overwhelmed. But one thing will remain. No matter how blocked or under attack you feel, the Lord still has His spiritual traffic light working.
Perhaps you are used to getting revelation when you ask for it. The Lord can tell you what is happening and you can follow it. But now maybe even that has stopped and you feel totally directionless.
What is that traffic light a picture of? The Urim and Thummim, yes or no, which the Lord has built into our spirits. Even if you are feeling totally blocked, you can always ask the Lord,
“Lord should I do this? Should I go this way?”
It is a simple question and He will give you a simple answer. He will say yes (green light), no (red light), or watch out. This could lead to something that is not a blessing (amber light).
You have a valuable resource available to you, when for a while you have no other way of hearing from the Lord. You need to develop this simple way of getting direction from Him and use it often.
I think too many believers are firstly not aware of the Urim and Thummim. And if they are, they do not use it enough in their day to day lives. I think we are so used to doing things in the natural, that we don’t even think of asking the Lord what He thinks.
You Have the Victory
The Lord will never push your or force you to do these things. He has simply given us as believers the tools that we can use to make our lives victorious. Know too that when you are under attack and feeling overwhelmed, you simply need to cry out to the Lord and He will help you to overcome.
Like the fire fighters, ambulances and police on the scene, He will come to your aid and cause the demonic attack to be removed from you. Then you can begin to walk once again in the blessing that He wants you to walk in in your life.
Know that Satan may think he has disabled you. He might throw everything that he can at you to make you feel defeated. But he cannot maintain it for long, because the Spirit of the Lord will rise up inside of you and he will know that he has to run.
“Thank you Lord that you destined us to walk in victory, to hear your voice and to overcome every attack of the enemy.
If you are under attack right now, I stand against the forces of darkness that are trying to smother you and overwhelm you, and command them to be removed. Thank you Lord for coming to the aid of this person and for confirming the steps that they should be taking. Praise you for it Lord.”
If you are under attack, may Satan get his running shoes on. And may you begin to walk in greater victory than you have known before.
