Heal The Hurts

I was about 8 or 9 years old and doing maths in school. The teacher wrote a whole lot of sums on the board. She then told us to copy them into our books, answer them, and come up to her at her desk to mark them.
I did as she instructed us, but for one of the sums I wrote a plus instead of a minus sign by accident. We still wrote in pencil, so when I saw my mistake I rubbed out the top to bottom line. You could however still see a faint mark.
I took my sums up to her to mark, and when she saw my mistake, she slapped me on the wrist with a ruler and told me,
“You are SO stupid!”
Wow, what a hurtful thing to do! I really didn’t think that my little mistake was worthy of such a reaction and I sobbed my eyes out for a long time that day. That was the first one that I remember clearly, but there were many more occurrences.
What hurtful things have happened in your life, because if you are human you have surely also experienced it? Each person is different and reacts to hurts differently. Some people can bounce back quickly; others can’t let it go easily and carry the pain with them for years.
Whatever the case, hurts happen to everyone and can come through many different people – parents, siblings, school kids or teachers, like my experience, or work colleagues.
The Lord’s desire is for you to live a life of blessing, peace, and joy with others. But Satan does not want that, and he stirs up people to try and create hurts and problems in your life.
Someone may have hurt you badly and you have tried to let it go and move on. But sometimes that hurt remains and is close to the surface. All Satan needs to do is stir up the memory of that hurt, and your emotions will come out in full force as you think of what happened.
But here is the good news. The Lord wants to heal that hurt and set you free. The Holy Spirit can move on you supernaturally and take the sting out of the hurt.
When this happens you won’t forget the incident. However, the pain that you felt will be removed so that it won’t affect you anymore.
Perhaps you have one or more hurts that keep trying to resurface and make your life miserable. If so, I want to pray with you now. I want to ask the Lord to move in your life and remove the pain so that you can walk in victory once more.
Before I do this however I want you to give these things to the Lord. See Him sitting with you and tell Him every one of the things that are bothering you. He hears you and wants to remove those things from you once and for all.
Speak each situation out loud and choose to forgive the person who hurt you. It is also powerful to try and see what may have caused the outburst. Now let me pray for you.

My Prayer
“Lord, I lift the person reading this up to you now. You see what they are struggling with, Lord. You see the hurt that is constantly plaguing them, trying to stop them from walking in the joy and victory that you have for them.
Holy Spirit, as they have given you each hurt, I am asking that you move upon Your child right now and remove the painful sting of those memories.
Thank you for pouring out Your healing balm that soothes them and reassures them of Your continued love. May you take them by the hand now, lift them up, and set them on a new path of blessing that you have for them.
Thank you for doing this, Lord. Amen.”
I hope that today the dark clouds that may have been hovering over you will be removed. May you step out into the bright sunlight with new hope and joy, knowing that much blessing awaits you.
