Do you know that you are special and that the Lord has something unique for you? He has no favorites and wants to bring out the best in you? I am sure you know that in theory. But perhaps in reality it feels like a different story.
Each person is different and unique. Actually it’s great that each one looks different and is not like a cookie cutter. If we were all the same we would not be able to identify each other.
When it comes to abilities and being unique, In the natural I felt a failure because I was just mediocre at most things. I didn’t really stand out in any area, except at perhaps messing things up.
Many years later however, I developed an ability that most other people couldn’t do or didn’t want to do. I became good at typing and transcribing and doing complicated tables and charts. I love it, and it made me feel good about myself because I was in demand.
Spiritually the Lord will do the same thing for you. He has something unique and special that others can’t always do or don’t want to do. Perhaps you have a special way of praying for healing that brings good results. Or maybe He has given you a special ability to heal inner hurts.
In John 21, Jesus called Peter and gave him three special different ministry aspects. The trouble was he looked at John and asked about him. But Jesus was giving him instructions for his life, and giving him that special call.
In my own life I often found myself comparing where I was spiritually with my husband and other members of our ministry team who rose up in higher level leadership. I looked at myself and felt a second rate citizen in comparison to them.
But that is not where the Lord had called me to be. And when I finally took my eyes off them and onto what the Lord wanted me to do, everything changed. He gave me an ability in prayer and it became the thing that I could stand on and feel good abut doing.
Where Are You At?
So where do you stand in your own spiritual walk right now? Have you found that unique, special thing that the Lord has called you to do? It doesn’t always come full blown and instantly. In the same way that I only found that special, unique ability when I was much older, it can also happen to you. You may only find your niche much later in life.
But don’t let that stop you. Keep doing whatever your hand finds to do for the Lord, and follow Him and His leading. Don’t look at what others are doing, compare yourself to them and feel like a failure. Remember that you are unique and special. You are not a carbon copy of them.
If you can identify with what I have been saying here, why not give yourself to the Lord today and just follow His leading for this one day? It doesn’t matter what everyone else is doing. You do what He is giving you to do.
As you keep doing that you will feel a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. And He will likely begin to lead you into that special spiritual calling that He has for you.
I pray that today would be a blessed day for you, and that you know how special you are to the Lord.
In His love,
Apostle and Spiritual Mother
